Background:

The International ESOL Diploma (9992) is a combination of City & Guilds International ESOL (8984) and International Spoken ESOL (8985). The qualification assesses all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

 

Entry Requirements:

All students will need to go through an initial assessment to ascertain their level of English prior to starting an International ESOL course.

UK Border Agency Regulations:

The Points based system is designed to manage the flow of migrant workers to the UK. Nationals from outside the European Economic Area who wish to come to or remain in the UK, to undertake skilled work will have to provide evidence that they have an acceptable standard of English i.e. that they have passed an English language test which is recognised by the Home Office.

Tier 1
The City & Guilds IESOL Diploma C1 Expert level has been approved by the Border and Immigration Agency as being appropriate evidence of language competence for Tier 1 workers i.e. highly skilled migrants.

Tier 2
The City & Guilds International ESOL Diploma has been approved by the UK Border Agency as being appropriate evidence of language competence for Tier 2 workers i.e. skilled migrants (please see table below).

Tier 4

The minimum level of English language course that can be studied under Tier 4 on the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) is B2. As such students are welcome to enrol on the International ESOL Diploma course at the Communicator B2 le or higher (please see table below).
